Outpatient Robotic Prostatectomy to be Webcast Live for First Time from Outpatient Center

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- World renowned surgeon Dr. Inderbir Gill, Chairman of the University of Southern California's Institute of Urology at the Keck School of Medicine, will be performing a robotic outpatient, urethral catheter-free radical prostatectomy using the latest daVinci Si robotic surgery system at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 30 at the miVIP Surgery Center in Beverly Hills.

This procedure will be webcast live and streamed to a special lecture hall where surgeons and doctors may not only watch but also ask questions of Dr. Gill and his team during the procedure in real-time.

Additionally, a patient who underwent a similar surgery earlier the same day will also personally come to the lecture hall to talk to conference attendees. The uniqueness of this patient's coming to the lecture hall lies in the fact that recovery time from traditional prostate surgery is 2-3 days; this novel robotic procedure is now performed as an outpatient operation for the first time!

The broadcast of this surgery will be the centerpiece of the CME course that will be held in the Albert Ballroom at the SLS Hotel on La Cienega (a few minutes away from the surgery center).
