Author Describes and Explains Everything About Pain in New Book

DALLAS, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Those who have had pain would agree that pain is a terrible condition that reduces the quality of life for many people. Despite many advances in health care, today's treatment of pain is often inadequate, especially for pain that lasts a long time. The reason can either be that there is no known adequate treatment or that the available treatments are not used or not used correctly. There are many ways to treat severe pain, but how does one choose the best way to treat pain? There are many important things about pain that physicians may not tell their patients. Now, author Aage Moller shares them with all in Pain: Its Anatomy, Physiology and Treatment.

This book describes what causes pain and why pain is so unpleasant, the various treatments of pain that are available, their usefulness and their side effects. It is written in a way that can be understood by everyone, even those without a medical background. Many people who have pain would benefit from reading this book because it provides much important information that can help managing different kinds of pain in the best possible way.

This textbook provides a multidisciplinary, comprehensive, and broad coverage of up-to-date knowledge about the anatomical and physiological bases for pain. In addition, it explains the bases for many forms of treatment and management of pain. It also provides information about what causes pain, why the brain is involved in many forms of pain, and why people feel pain. The information in the book is all based on rigorously conducted studies published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

The book is derived from the author's many years of teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses on the "Biology of Pain" in the Neuroscience Program in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas. Although the book is written as a textbook for teaching undergraduate students in a neuroscience program, it is readable by a wider readership.

This book is available online and can be purchased at www.amazon.com.
