Kids With More Sleep Cope Better
How much sleep are your children getting each night? If you frequently have to deal with your children's temper tantrums, irritable attitude crankiness and bad moods, it could be they are not getting enough sleep. A new study published in the November issue of the journal Pediatrics observed that children that had around 27 minutes of extra sleep were more alert the next day and had less behavioral problems. The children in the study who were sleep deprived were observed to be significantly more impulsive and irritable.

If your children are between 7-12 year old, they need around 10-11 hours of sleep. So consider what time your children have to wake up and set a bedtime that will allow them to have enough rest. I know it may be difficult to get your children to sleep early if they are already in the habit of sleeping late. It helps to have a bedtime routine and you must be consistent. Eliminate all distractions such as television and computer use. It may help to play some soothing music to bring down their brain waves. Teach them some relaxation techniques that will get their body to relax and slow down their breathing. You may encounter resistance from your children at first, but you must be patient and firm. After all, bad habits are hard to break but it can be done.

So if you want your children to do better at school and display better behavior, do something about their sleeping hours.
